The birth of every great song has a wacky story behind it.
The birth of every great song has a wacky story behind it. And the song that has most of us humming Masakali also has a story behind it.
Lyricist Prasoon Joshi narrates, "Rahman was playing on his computer and this sound came about. And I began humming and they asked what it was and I said Masakali. 'What does it mean' they asked. I said 'I do not know, it just sounds nice'." Joshi says he took the flight with the bird while writing the song. The song, he says is not just about the dove, it's about women's liberation, freedom and doing as you please if you go by the lyrics Udiyo, Na dariyo kar man mani, Badiyo, Na mudiyo kar nadaani.
